Financial Analyst II

Keck School of Medicine Los Angeles, California

The KSOM Finance Department is seeking a customer service driven, self-motivated, detailed Financial Analyst II to join its team.  The Financial Analyst II will be an integral team member in the business office to ensure consistent financial reporting analysis and operations. 

The specific accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates, organizes and completes strategic and complex projects of a financial or business nature requiring identification and extraction of data, evaluation, interpretation, analysis and summation of findings.

  • Produces regular and ad-hoc financial and operating reports. Evaluates and analyzes reports and data. Develops conclusions and recommendations and communicates orally or in writing to management.

  • Monitors financial operations for a large operating area of the school and/or significant financial activity. Identifies problems or trends and evaluates for solutions. Seeks resolution or brings to the attention of senior management for consideration.

  • Reviews existing accounting, reporting and data management systems and methods for adequacy. Contributes to the development and/or modification of financial systems and applications to enhance reporting and information capabilities.

  • Researches problems and corrects errors or brings to the attention of the senior management for further consideration.

  • Interacts with university financial offices to exchange information and resolve problems.

  • Assists in the preparation of periodic financial reports for internal and/or external use.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of financial operation experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel (pivot tables and formulas) and PowerPoint.  Other skills include:

  • Strong organizational, written/oral communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Prior experience in financial and budget reporting.
  • Ability to follow through with assigned projects within established time-frames and with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment; exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of government and fund accounting, clinical revenue, database and university financial systems preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is $93,843.03 -  $105,000.
