The Keck School of Medicine of USC Department of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Pulmonary Director to lead our dynamic team of healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing innovative strategies to enhance and grow our interventional pulmonary services. The director will work closely with pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, and other providers within the health system to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and direction for the interventional pulmonary program
- Work closely with the division, department, and health system leadership to ensure access to inpatient and outpatient IP care
- Develop and implement protocols and guidelines for interventional pulmonary procedures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care across disease entities
- Supervise and mentor interventional pulmonary staff, including physicians, nurses, and technicians
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient safety and satisfaction
- Stay abreast of advances in interventional pulmonary medicine and incorporate new technologies and techniques into practice
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the interventional pulmonary team
- Oversee, teach, and mentor trainees (medical students, residents, fellows)
- Support the growth and development of the interventional pulmonary fellowship program
- Increase the impact of Keck Medicine’s IP program on the surrounding community
- Work collaboratively with the Division of Thoracic Surgery staff and members
- Facilitate growth and support of interventional pulmonary services at satellite hospitals of the Health System
- Participate in the financial stewardship of the program in concert with the Division Chief and Department Chair
- Represent the interventional pulmonary section in Divisional, Departmental, Hospital, and Health System matters when formally requested to present or be present
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Board certification in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and have completed an Interventional Pulmonology fellowship
- Fellowship training in Interventional Pulmonology
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing interventional pulmonary medicine
- Experience with most current interventional pulmonary techniques and instrumentation
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team and collaborate
- Proven commitment to teaching
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The annual base salary range for this position is $300,000-$450,000 When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
