Special Project Manager
Apply Keck School of Medicine Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of an experienced, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual to join Dr. Rima Habre’s research team as a Special Project Manager at the University of Southern California. This position will be based in the Division of Environmental Health and primarily affiliated with the CLIMATE-Related Exposures, Adaptation, and Health Equity (CLIMA) center investigating the effects of wildfire smoke, heat stress, and other human and system vulnerabilities at impacting cardiovascular health across the life course. The position will also support other ongoing projects and research collaborations in Dr. Habre’s portfolio, including studies around air pollution health impacts, environmental health disparities, and exposomics.
More specifically, job responsibilities include (1) coordination and administration of CLIMA center research, community building, and stakeholder engagement activities, (2) tracking, projection, and documentation of scientific and project-related milestones, requirements, and products, (3) planning, support, and execution of center or project-related events such as scientific advisory group meetings, team meetings, seminar series, and more, (4) close monitoring and reporting of compliance with data management sharing policies, authorship and collaboration guidelines, (5) preparation of graphs, summary statistics, reports, correspondence, and other data analyses and materials required for documentation and reporting, (6) assistance with writing manuscripts, grants, technical reports, and other communications, and (7) assistance with team management and communications.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in multidisciplinary, collaborative settings and have strong organization, communication, and writing skills. They should be able to produce careful and detail-oriented work, have excellent problem solving and project management skills, and have a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Prior experience support or leading large project or Center administration is preferred and highly desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in a public health, project management, and/or related field and prior experience in a research environment are required. Master’s degree is preferred.The position will be housed in the Division of Environmental Health of the Keck School of Medicine, which also includes multiple, active and well-developed research efforts oriented towards etiologic, intervention, population-based, and basic science research on understanding environmental impacts of multi-pollutant exposures to human health outcomes across the life course, with a special focus in early-life, childhood, and later-life impacts. A dynamic group of investigators in the NIH-funded Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center and MADRES Center for Environmental Health Disparities offer opportunities for a wide range of collaborations with and learning from other USC schools and across several Southern California institutions.

The annual base salary range for this position is $89,635.64 - $115,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
