Apply Keck Medicine of USC Hospital Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Advocacy Services Supervisor will lead advocacy efforts across campus by ensuring the coordination and implementation of advocacy services, supervising a team of advocates, and providing support to students impacted by power and gender-based harm. Advocacy Supervisor will be in charge of ensuring the growth and effective functionality of the advocacy program and its services and will report to the CARE-SC Director. They perform complex and varied administrative assignments. Serves as a personal contact for providers, staff, and outside departments in order to address problems, issues or concerns that require attention. Assists in management of area operations. Reports to Department leadership and is responsible for supervision of advocacy staff.
Essential Duties:
- Supervise and coordinates personnel actions, including, but not limited to onboarding/training, performance evaluations, time-off requests, staff disciplinary actions, hiring, and terminating staff. Coordinates staffing to ensure breaks and meal periods are covered. Provides coverage as needed.
- Supervises Advocacy Services to ensure staff is providing appropriate emergency responses as applicable.
- Provide leadership and structure in the development, implementation, and evaluation of CARE-SC’s Advocacy services
- Serves as a personal contact for providers , staff, and outside departments in order to address problems, issues or concerns that require attention and real time resolution. Other administrative/analytical work as required, including preparing meeting agendas on an as needed basis.
- Oversee/monitor staff’s caseloads; coordinate assignment of cases/referrals to ensure consistent and even workflow amongst all staff.
- Provide case consultation to Advocates; coordinate individual debriefing sessions with Advocates for difficult or traumatic cases as needed.
- Generates Daily Staff Assignments. Arranges for staff coverage as needed.
- Plans and directs staff development training for all advocacy staff to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Participates in monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient care. Contributes objective data regarding performance of other staff members, as requested. Collect and provide case study and other statistical reports to meet goals and objectives of grant funding.
- Enhance the professional skills and knowledge of Advocates by providing support, guidance, and resources. Participate in Advocate supervision meetings, including individual and team goal-setting meetings.
- Participates in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives, including, but not limited to assisting in development of department procedures and protocols.
- Ensures care areas are supplied and maintained adequately by support personnel.
- Promotes security by alerting appropriate personnel for safety, fire and other unsafe situations. Reports any unusual occurrences to Departmental Leadership. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control and safety policies.

Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor’s Degree Human services or related field
- Req 5 years In related field as a power and gender-based violence advocate.
- Req 1 year Experience providing advocacy services within higher education
- Req 1 year Experience with establishing new programs implemented in an organization
- Req 2 years Lead and/or supervisory experience
- Req Trained advocate; maintains California sexual assault crisis counseling and domestic violence counseling certificates
- Req Excels in sexual and dating/domestic violence crisis counseling, advocacy, and case management
- Req Ability to work effectively across different groups with cultural sensitivity
- Req Strong collaboration and relationship management skills
- Req Strong project and time management skills
- Req Knowledge of crisis counseling and case management skills
- Req Knowledge of resources for survivors of power and gender-based harm
- Req Excellent listening skills
- Req Knowledge and practice of trauma-informed care approaches
- Req Ability to establish and maintain effective and supportive relationships
- Req Ability to manage time effectively and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Req Proficient verbal/written communication skills
- Req Proficient in MS Office and applicable computer applications

Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Certified Sexual Assault Advocate/Counselor
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $81,120.00 - $133,010.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
