Admissions Counselor II

Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Admissions Counselor II to join our Office of Admissions team. This role will serve as a key advisor to prospective students and their families, providing guidance on university admission policies, procedures, and educational opportunities. The Admissions Counselor II will be responsible for evaluating applications, making admissions decisions, and managing outreach programs and recruitment projects. Additionally, this position supports the implementation of recruitment plans and enhances visibility through informational materials, websites, and social media.

Key Responsibilities:

Admissions Counseling

  • Advise prospective students and families on admission policies, application procedures, and educational pathways at various stages of the admission and enrollment process.
  • Provide follow-up on applicant inquiries, addressing issues, and offering solutions regarding admissions.
  • Maintain applicant communication through in-person and virtual meetings, phone calls, email, , and social media, while ensuring compliance with FERPA regulations.

Application Review and Decision Making

  • Keep up-to-date on university policies affecting admissions; apply guidelines to assess applications and make admission decisions for graduate programs.

Outreach and Recruitment

  • Plan and coordinate recruitment programs and projects, including virtual and in-person events at schools and specialized recruitment fairs.
  • Represent the university at events, such as professional conferences and information sessions, to increase program visibility.

Content Development and Public Relations

  • Act as a resource for the university community, preparing and curating content for informational materials, websites, and social media channels to elevate the university’s visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in admissions counseling, student recruitment, or related higher education roles preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student success.

The annual base salary range for this position is $$66,560.04 - $68,640.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Work Experience: 2 years.
