The Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the USC School of Advanced Computing within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering seeks outstanding candidates for Research Assistant Professor. These are full-time, non-tenure track research faculty positions. The appointments require a demonstrated capacity for collaborative, interdisciplinary research. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in electrical engineering or a related discipline, and an established track record of funding and publication appropriate for appointment.

Research faculty are not eligible for tenure and have no obligation to teach in the department. Appointments may be considered for up to three years, subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance and available funding.

Application materials should include a letter clearly indicating area(s) of specialization, a detailed curriculum vitae, a concise statement of current and future research directions and funding, and contact information for at least three professional references. Applications will be considered starting immediately until the position is filled. Applications submitted after November 10, 2025, may not be considered. Early application is highly encouraged.

The core salary range for the positions is $90,000 - $120,000 per year. These are 12-month full-time positions.

The USC Viterbi School of Engineering is among the top-tier of engineering schools in the world, with 212 full-time, tenure-track faculty members. The School is home to the Information Sciences Institute, the Institute for Creative Technologies, and is affiliated with the USC Stevens Center for Innovation. Research expenditures typically exceed $189 million annually. With 60 tenure-track, 6 research faculty, and 8 teaching faculty, the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the nation’s leading centers of research and education in the field.
